HASSHAN BATTS, DHSc - Community Trainer and Mediator
Hasshan Batts is a survivor, healer, son, father and friend. He is the Director of Education and Training for Practitioners Research and Scholarship Institute, founding member of The Society for the Healing and Study of Historical Trauma, founding board member of WEER (Healthy) Africa, current Collective Impact Fellow through the Rider-Pool Foundation and a leading expert in trauma informed care, resiliency, restorative practices, reentry and community accountability and engagement models. He is also the former Director of the Conflict Resolution Center in Hickory, NC, former Board member of the Mediation Network of North Carolina (MNNC), the National Association for Community Mediation (NAFCM), and the Victim Offenders Mediation Association (VOMA) and former Regional Director of the Borgen Project.Batts holds a Joint Master degree in Social Work from North Carolina A&T University and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is scheduled to complete his Doctoral Degree in Health Sciences from Nova Southeastern University in Florida in 2016.
